BESTPASS
and PrePass Join Forces
Cooperative Marketing Expands Reach of both Offerings
On July 22, 2006 BESTPASS and PrePass announced a joint
marketing venture designed to save carriers money and time. PrePass and BESTPASS will now be offered as a package to
motor carriers with fleets of less than five trucks,
enabling small motor carriers to enjoy single device
interoperability between electronic preclearance and toll
collection systems. Carriers can now operate in the
PrePass weigh stations bypass program and the E-ZPass system
utilizing a single BestPass transponder. The
cooperative marketing arraignment will be launched
in Ohio next month with nationwide expansion
anticipated shortly thereafter.
"Each day carriers waste valuable time and money at
toll booths and weigh stations. Carriers still paying
cash for tolls may be spending up to 30 percent more than
necessary, as well as wasting time and fuel", according to
Bill Joyce, CEO of BESTPASS. "The same is true
at weigh stations, which cost carriers about $5.00 for
every stop", said Dick Landis, president and CEO of Help
Inc., which offers the PrePass service.
PrePass is a sophisticated technology that enables
qualified motor carriers to comply electronically with
state weight, safety and credential requirements at highway
speeds. Motor carrier participation is strictly
voluntary and carrier eligibility is subject to state safety
qualifications. BESTPASS offers toll savings on the
Ohio Turnpike as well as the E-ZPass tolls on the
Pennsylvania Turnpike, New York State Thruway and Maryland
Bridges & Tunnels.
"Our intention is to provide one-stop shopping for small
carriers then enables them the maximum toll discounts
possible and automatic enrollment in PrePass", said Larry
Davis, president of the Ohio Trucking Association and
Treasurer of Help Inc.
Carriers enrolling before September 30, 2006 will
enjoy the first month of bypassing weigh stations at
no charge.
"Together we're stronger and the motor carriers are
better off", added Joyce and Landis.
